Devětsil members, student groups and publishers involved in the Czech avant-garde produced a number of magazines and journals. These often featured the same techniques of photomontage and innovative typography found on the book covers of the period. Otakar Mrkvička designed the cover for the journal of literature, art and science Plan. The student magazine Avantgarda uses a similar approach with inventive typography and contrasting colors. Another student magazine, TRN, produced many colorful covers including this issue designed by Vojtěch Tittelbach. Published by the avant-garde publishing house Aventinum, this issue of the periodical Rozpravy Aventina has a cover designed by Adolf Hoffmeister that pays tribute to Karel Teige.
