03. Prairie Shores Apartments, 2851 S. King Dr., Chicago, IL, brochure, c.1960.
With the relative success of Lake Meadows established, Michael Reese Hospital soon followed with its own Prairie Shores complex (Loebl, Schossman & Bennett, 1958-1962), a group of 5 towers immediately north of Lake Meadows. Developer Ferd Kramer, in an attempt to attract white tenants to an historically black neighborhood, adopted de facto racial quotas for Prairie Shores until being sued in 1980.
