With the relative success of Lake Meadows established, Michael Reese Hospital soon followed with
its own Prairie Shores complex (Loebl, Schossman & Bennett, 1958-1962), a group of 5 towers
immediately north of Lake Meadows. Developer Ferd Kramer, in an attempt to attract white tenants
to an historically black neighborhood, adopted de facto racial quotas for Prairie Shores until
being sued in 1980.
