05. Brach's Candy Factory
401 N. Kilpatrick Ave.
1923 by Alfred S. Alschuler
Still standing, though vacant and derelict

Designed to include a roof-top garden, tennis courts, clubrooms, and a library, this 23-acre complex began as the country's largest candy factory, employing up to 4,500 people. While this building still stands, it has been left vacant and exposed to inclement weather since 2004. The future of the complex is unknown, though complete demolition is expected.
