Newton's Cenotaph:

Boullée was greatly influenced by Isaac Newton's mathematical precision and its applicability to the architectural form. The cenotaph is designed as a large circular form, mimicking the shape of the earth; Boullée wrote of the project, "O Newton, as by the extent of your wisdom and the sublimity of your genius you determined the shape of the earth; I have conceived the idea of enveloping you in your own discovery." The dome of the cenotaph is pierced with holes to create the impression of stars.
