David Painter (1913-2003)
for Bell & Howell Company, c.1940.
Painter was vice-president in charge of design at the Chicago firm Barnes and Reinecke, Inc., 1935-1950, after graduating from the School of the Art Institute's industrial design program. His industrial design and engineering firm developed new products for such companies as Toastmaster, Hamilton-Beach, McGraw Electric Co., Container Corporation of America, and 3M. Barnes and Reinecke and Painter's subsequent firm Painter/Teague/Petertil developed designs ranging from consumer products to industrial machines.
