Glass trained in Vienna and fled to the United States in 1939. Holder of over fifty patents he is best known for this collapsible chair, designed in 1978, and the Swingline children's furniture suite. Glass taught industrial design at the School of the Art Institute for twenty-one years 1945-1967.
