Kostrzyn (Küstrin) is Taken!, TASS No. 1188, March 15, 1945
Stencil
1500 x 1238 mm
After heavy fighting on March 12, the troops of the First Belarusian Front captured the city and fortress of Kostrzyn (Küstrin). This is a key junction of the Germans' lines of communication and a strong point of leverage for the Germans' defenses on the river Oder, which have been blocking attacks on Berlin.
At the junction of the enemy's roads
We battled fiercely.
From here, toward the East,
The Germans rushed trains with armaments.
With our heroic blow
We swept the enemy from his path.
So that the trains would go back West
With armaments for the Soviet troops.
