The Heroic Feat of Young Communist Aleksandr Matrosov, TASS No. 0830, October 13, 1943
Stencil
1432 x 1217 mm
At a decisive moment of battle with the German Fascist invaders on 23 February 1943, Aleksandr Matveevich Matrosov, a private in the guards, broke through to an enemy position and closed the embrasure with his body, sacrificing himself and ensuring the success of an advancing unit.
Covering the embrasure with his body,
Matrosov will not die. He will live centuries.
Blood is pouring on the frozen snow.
His hand reaches forward.
The immortal spirit of the Bolshevik
Lives in his brave impulse.
