Russian scientist and inventor Pavel Nikolaevich Iablochkov was the first to adapt electricity for illumination. Invented by him in 1876, the "Electric Candle" quickly spread throughout Russia and Europe.
Petersburg and Paris were the first cities to light their streets by electric lamps.
Around the world, Iablochkov's wonderful invention was called "Russian Light."
The name of Pavel Iablochkov belongs to the glorious constellation of Russian scientists and inventors who are the pride of Russian science.
