Docent-led tours of the exhibition will engage students in thinking about how a single idea can generate many results. These works of art will then be used to place this important artist in context with other 20th-century works of art in the Art Institute's collection. Studio Program: Exploring Visual Art and Poetry November 26?30 Grades 9?12 This creative-writing program focuses on the relationship between text and image. By looking at works by artists such as Jasper Johns who include letters, words, and literary or poetic references in their paintings, students will explore the ways painting and poetry intersect and will investigate how meanings are made through this interaction. Following the exhibition tour, students will have an opportunity to further explore image and text in a creative writing workshop facilitated by an artist and poet. Click here for more information and to register for a tour. All tours meet Illinois Learning Standards in Language Arts, Social Sciences, and Fine Arts. back to top |
