Ernest Robert Graham (1868-1936) was appointed Assistant Director of Works on March 7, 1891. According to The Final Official Report of the Director of Works of the World's Columbian Exposition he was charged with all duties related to construction, "except those having to do with artistic designing for which he had no training." After the Fair Graham went on to work for Burnham's architectural firm and later co-found the architectural firm Graham, Anderson, Probst & White, the successor to D.H. Burnham and Co.
