The Radford Architectural Company, based in Riverside, Illinois, sold plans with specifications for $5.00 per set. Staff architects and designers created hundreds of options at various levels of affordability for families and entrepreneurs wishing to build an attractive structure without having to pay an architect's commission. Construction estimates ranged from $400 for a two-room 470 sq. ft. home to $4200 for a twelve-room, three-story home. The company also offered a custom design service for more expensive residences. Radford published over twenty catalogs of designs beginning in 1903 and continuing into the 1920s.
