Marcel Mariën (1920-1993) was a writer, poet, photographer, collage artist, and frequent prankster. Early in his career he collaborated with many of the Belgian Surrealists and later he was affiliated with the Situationists International. After breaking off his close relationship with Magritte in 1954, Mariën began publishing Les Lèvres Nues, which was one of the most political journals produced by those associated with Belgian Surrealism.

Publication was suspended 1958-1969.
