The Art Institute of Chicago published Surrealism and Its Affinities: The Mary Reynolds Collection, A Bibliography in 1956. This comprehensive catalogue, published in an edition of 1,375 copies, was realized through the vision and sponsorship of Frank Brookes Hubachek, who devoted countless hours to its development and production. It was compiled by Hugh Edwards, then Associate Curator of Photography, with the assistance of Carl O. Schniewind, then Curator of Prints and Drawings; Ruth Schoneman, then Librarian; and Anselmo (Sam) Carini, then Editor of Publications; and designed by Suzette M. Zurcher, then a trustee of the Art Institute of Chicago. Several of Reynolds' friends also contributed to the catalogue, including Djuna Barnes, Alexander Calder, Jean Cocteau, Jacques Villon, and, of course, Marcel Duchamp. A second edition of the catalogue, in an edition of 2,000 copies, was published in 1973.
