Horizontal cross sections of legs

Overlaid horizontal cross sections through the lower part of the legs of Back (I) and Back (II), revealing the general pattern of adjustments to the figure. Matisse shifted it to the side, as he had those in many paintings of this period, including Bathers with a Turtle and Bather, both on display in the exhibition.
