happening? How does the artist suggest the feeling of music
in the mural?
- Have students close their eyes and listen
to the chosen music.
- Let students begin to move their arms to
the feeling of the music. Slowly let students add their legs,
fingers, neck, and hips.
- Have students write at least five words
that describe how they feel while listening to the music being
played. This may be done orally with younger students, with
the teacher writing the words for them.
- Have students describe what their movements
were in writing or orally.
- Conduct the above steps with different
styles of music.
- Have students compare and contrast their
feelings and movements with different forms of music.
Evaluation
Assess students on the basis on their verbal
and written work and ability to describe and compare styles of
music.
Follow-up
Have students use art materials, such as watercolor
or India ink, to create images inspired by the music in the lesson.
