    PLUS
    Winter Holidays: The museum is open until 6:30 on Thanksgiving weekend (Friday–Sunday) and December 26–31.

    The museum is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's days.


    ADMISSION
    Admission Fees
    Adults: $12
    Children, Students, and Seniors (65 and up): $7
    Children under 12 are free. Members are always free.

    You may buy tickets online at www.ticketmaster.com, at Ticketmaster ticket centers in Illinois at least one day in advance of your visit, or by phone at (312) 575-8000. There are additional fees for these orders.

    Families can visit the Art Institute for free with the Kraft Great Kids Passport from the Chicago Public Library. Passports are valid for general admission and for most special exhibitions.

    February: Everyday, all day, from February 1 to 21 is FREE to all.


    LOCATION
    The museum is located at 111 South Michigan Avenue, at the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Adams Street, on the eastern edge of Chicago’s famous downtown Loop. For driving directions and a map of the area, click here. To find information about parking, click here.


    MEMBERSHIP
    Become a member of the Art Institute of Chicago and get free admission all year! Members also receive discounts on special events, performances, and concerts, and a 10% discount at the Museum Shop. Call (312) 575-8000 to join or renew your membership, or click here to purchase a membership online. In the museum, you can join at any of the membership desks.

    AUDIO GUIDE
    With its random-access MP3 technology, the audio guide offers a customized tour every time it's used. Visitors may access entries in any order and begin anywhere they wish in the museum. In addition to the audio tour of The Silk Road and Beyond, all other tours and topics, including the Director’s Tour, the Lions Trail Family Tour, and Gallery Overviews, are included.

    The audio guide can be rented at the admission counter. The guide is available for $6 ($5 for members) and is free to visitors with visual and hearing impairments.

    DINING IN THE MUSEUM
    Enjoy a served lunch featuring seasonal flavors in the Garden Restaurant, open 11:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. daily, closed holidays. The Court Café, open every day until one hour before museum closing, offers a variety of food, including soups, deli sandwiches, carved meats, pizza, salad, and desserts, all in a casual environment.


    THE MUSEUM SHOP
    The Museum Shop offers a selection of products and books related to the Silk Road. The shop is located in the Michigan Avenue lobby, and annexes are located on the lower level outside the Kraft Education Center and in McKinlock Court.
